About Nuggikeri Hanuman Temple.

Nuggikeri Hunuman Temple is an ancient temple in Dharwad. Devotees come from different regions to this temple. On saturdays the crowd is more as it is the vishesha divasa (special day) for Hanuman.

It is believed that about 50 years ago, the statue was found on the on a lakebed. A devotee passing by found the idol installed it and started worshipping it. Another interesting feature is that Saint Shri Vyasraj installed the deity.

The devotees in and around the village consider the Nuggikeri Hanuman Temple as the most powerful god in their region. Believers say that one who visits the temple consecutively for 5 Saturdays gets a higher chance of being heard by God. And thus a larger probability of their wishes to get fulfill. People say that on our first visit, we have to tie a thread at the allotted place and commit coming to the temple for next four weeks.

The Nuggikeri Hanuman Temple is quite small compared to the other temples in Karnataka. On the way to the temple, Words like ‘Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram’ are written all over the place in order to show the devotion and selflessness of Lord Hanuman. There is also a Beautiful lake adjacent to the temple. Water from this lake is used for temple activities and pujas. Some say that this is the lake from where the idol of Lord Hanuman was found. Sitting over the lake for few minutes and watching the surroundings gives a blissful feeling of beauty and peace. The temple and the surroundings are under renovation for helping the tourists to spend more time in the temple.

The temple attracts more devotees on Saturday as it is an auspicious day for Lord Hanuman. The people believe that doing pujas and praying to Lord Hanuman will fulfill their wishes. The people in the nearby villages consider the Nuggikeri Hanuman Temple as one of the most powerful temples in their region.

The temple is located on the Hubli – Dharwad road, at a distance of 7.5 km from Dharwad and 22.5 km from Hubli. Dharwad and navalur are the nearby railway stations. As the temple is close to the Dharwad city, devotees and tourists can reach till Dharwad by train and from there take autos or private means of transportation to reach the temple.

By Air:The nearest airport to Dharwad is located in Hubli which is 20 km from this city. From the airport devotees can hire a taxi or bus to reach Dharwad. 

By Rail: Dharwad railway station is located nearly 3 km from city and all the major trains come to the city directly. It is the most convenient way to reach Dharwad

By Road: Dharwad is well connected to other major cities of the country via regular buses.
