Nellaiappar Temple   Tirunelveli

About Nellaiappar Temple

Nellaiappar Temple is a Hindu temple committed to the divinity Shiva, situated in Tirunelveli, a city in the South Indian territory of Tamil Nadu. Shiva is venerated as Nellaiappar (likewise called Venuvananathar) spoke to by the lingam and his partner Parvati is portrayed as Kanthimathi Amman. The temple is situated on the northern banks of Tamiraparani Waterway in Tirunelveli region. The directing divinity is respected in the seventh century Tamil Saiva standard work, the Tevaram, composed by Tamil holy person artists referred to as the nayanmars and delegated Paadal Petra Sthalam.

As indicated by the puranas, both the Gopurams were worked by Pandyas and the sanctums of the temple were developed by Nindraseer Nedumaran who reigned in the seventh century. The mani mandapam with its celebrated melodic column was worked by Later Pandyas in the seventh century. Initially the Nellaiappar and Kanthimathi temples were two free structures with spaces in the middle. It was in 1647 that Thiru Vadamalaiappa Pillaiyan, an incredible aficionado of Siva connected the two temples by building the "Chain mandapam" (In Tamil Sangili Mandapam). Toward the western part of the chain mandapam is the blossom cultivate that was set up in 1756 by Thiruvengadakrishna Mudaliar. In the focal point of the Blossom Garden is a square vasantha mandapam with 100 columns. The Nandi mandapam is said to have been worked by Sivanthiappa Nayak in 1654. The banner remain close to the Nandi was set up in 1155.
