About Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar

Established by saint cum reformer Madhavdeva, Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar is a famous namghar in Jorhat district of Assam. It was established in the year 1461, he kindled an earthen lamp and it has been burning till today, with the help of the priests who religiously refuel it, as and when required.

It has a large campus and is one of the oldest namghars in the Assam. Namghar literally meaning Name House, which is associated with a religion named Ekasarana in the state of Assam. It is their congregational place of worship.

The namghar is spread over a land having an area of 13 bighas and the complex houses other edifices other than the namghar. All these are maintained with donations given by devotees. The committee sponsors various cultural and social programs all year round as well.
